If you have a problem with this game, we can come out to your home and repair it. This is our business, not just a hobby like most sellers! We are so confident in our restorations that we back them up, unlike other fly-by-night sellers that like to put the words “AS-IS” on all of their auctions. The reason we can back up the games we sell is because we actually do the work that’s needed to make the game perform reliably for years to come. It requires a LOT of work and experience to make a 10, 20 or 30+ year old pinball machine reliable. An unrestored game usually results in EXPENSIVE repairs! Don’t fall for sellers that only show you a picture of the game sales FLYER and not a picture of the ACTUAL GAME they will send you! Pinball machines can NEVER be compared simply on price and as always… YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Due to my in-your-home restoration services, I have a proven track record of service and support in the Eastern Pennsylvania, Central/South Jersey and Northern Delaware areas. Get ready to run the bases with… This game was produced in 1971 by Gottlieb, creator of the most popular mechanical pinball machines on the planet! Playball was the very first Gottlieb game to use the now standard 3-inch flipper bat which provided better ball control than the previous mini-flipper games. The early to mid 70’s is considered the best era of the electro-mechanical pinball machine as the games had reach an elegant sophistication in the way that they played and the engineers could pull off some pretty cool tricks with their limited technology. In the late 70’s, Gottlieb and all other pinball manufacturers started switching over to digital technology, forever changing the sights, sounds and gameplay of pinball machines as we knew them. This game was incredibly popular when new due to the classic Gottlieb gameplay along with the ever-popular baseball theme. This game was created when Gottlieb was the king of the arcades, bowling alleys and corner stores. No one could hold a candle to a Gottlieb mechanical pinball machine… They were simply the king of the hill! Playball is one of Gottlieb’s greatest sports-themed wedge-head style games and is generally close to the top of any mechanical pinball machine collectors favorite game lists. Anyone that played pinball machines in the 70’s has usually seen and played Buccaneer, making it a truly classic game. You’ll love the old-fashioned chime box sounds that take you back to a simpler time in all of our lives. A time when pinball was the king of the arcade and boardwalk. A time before those confounded electronic video games came about! Playball has many of the classic features that made Gottlieb great. This game is a dual-faceted machine that combines pinball scoring along with baseball runs and provides two ways for you to win! The game has an “auto-plunger” which launches the ball from between the flippers instead of relying on a traditional manual ball plunger. This increases the size of playfield area so they could pack more features onto the game! The rules of play are easy… Hit the corresponding targets to place you men on the bases, or go for the rollovers which will score singles, doubles, triples or HOME RUNS. Everyone’s favorite feature on the playfield are the dual Gottlieb patented VARI-TARGETS. Hit them with the ball to push them backwards. The harder you can hit them, the further they go back and the more points and bases you’ll be awarded! The playfield targets and rollovers not only place your men on bases, but they also score traditional pinball points. This gives you TWO WAYS TO WIN making this game a double-delight! All of the great classic elements are on this playfield such as pop-bumpers, slingshots, rollovers and stationary targets to give this playfield a classic playing and vintage feel that will keep you entertained and challenged for hours at a time. Most pinball enthusiasts agree that Gottlieb made the best playing single-level playfield designs and this game is one of the very best. The classic and family-friendly theme goes great in any home gameroom! An absolutely BEAUTIFUL example of this title! A true “time capsule” of pinball greatness! The playfield on this game is in fabulous condition with no touch-ups and the original factory clear coat is intact with a near mirror finish. The original silk-screened plastics are in excellent condition with no chipped or damaged pieces. The game has been completely serviced to play like new! The screen-painted backglass is an absolute beautiful condition original. The cabinet is one of the nicest originals that I’ve ever seen with only the most minor of blemishes. See below for the full list of what has been done to this game. This game plays beautifully, just like it did in 1971! This game has been professionally serviced for long-lasting reliability and enjoyment. I have many years of experience in pinball repair and restoration as a business, not just a hobby.
