This pinball was ahead of it’s time. Centaur’s vocabulary of 30 words gives the pin the ability to speak with the capacity of approximately 20 phrases. Centaurs speech program was one of the biggest around for pinballs at that time, with other games averaging around 10 phrases.

This centaur has an idling motor bike as background sound. The notable features on this game are as follows. 2 flippers, 2 pop bumpers, 4-bank drop targets, 4-in-line drop targets, 5 multiballs.

A ball hitting recessed red target in the upper right corner of the playfield is held momentarily by a magnet under the playfield. It has speech, with operator-optionable reverberation. The game has the standard ball in play tilt or can be operator-optioned to have two tilt programs. This means if a player activates the tilt mechanism a first time, the word “warning” lights up upon the silk screened backglass & remains lit while the game continues for that player without penalty. However, if this player tilts a second time, the game ends.

In game over mode, pressing either flipper button causes the playfield light to highlight each major scoring feature, one at a time, while the speech card identifies that feature by name. An attract mode operator option causes all five balls to automatically shoot onto the playfield every 15 minutes to interact with the pop bumpers & slingshots till they drain. This pinball uses a “say it again” re verb card in addition to the “squawk and talk” speech card. Enough said abou the machine functions!
My pinball tech of 30 years experience, has worked on it on and off over the years. He has went through this machine and everything is working 100% including the 3 coin mechs. The backglass is in mint condtion!! As seen in the pictures.

All the boards are original to the game. I replaced with new, 8 new drop targets and 2 top bumper caps & skirts.

I install a new bally decal for the coin door. I also replaced all burnt out bulbs & all new bulbs on the top playfield. I took the playfield plastics off and triple waxed it using wildcat#125. Then replaced all the rubbers with new ones. I have primed and painted the legs and installed new leg levelers also.

I spray painted the back with a flat black that looks nice. The front & the coin door are very nice. It has a hidden free credit switch button underneath but the coin mechs are all in working order. It comes with keys for both the head and the coin door.

It has a coin box & it also has a reprint of the manual. There is some wear on the playfield up top where the ball shoots out and in the half circle at the top.

Also there is a line going across the playfield that goes through the bumble bee glasses on the women(as seen in the 4th picture). I don’t think it is a scratch in the playfield and instead believe it is a crease in the malar?

The cabinet (shown in picture#7) on the left side has a small gouge. Actually the cabinet looks pretty good for it’s age-31 years old-you be the judge! It is a blast to play and would fit in fine with any game room or man cave.

This is just a “cool” pinball. Machine, with a neat motorcycle theme. The machine is in our home on ground level & we will give you a hand loading if needed. The dimensions of this game are approx. We do not crate or pallet any machine.

Price varies based on the travel distance. This machine will leave our house in the condition in which it has been described. We will take pictures as we cardboard corners, pad & shrink wrap the machine, extra care on protecting the backglass. Also we will take pictures of it being loaded on the truck.

All these pictures can be emailed to you if you want them.

Centaur II Bally pinball machine !!!!!RARE!!!! X-MAS GIFT!!!!!!!!!!!!WOW!!!!!!!! Just in time for the holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Their rates are usually around $350 within 1500 miles of 44070 and around $420 everywhere else in the continental 48. Call with any questions 440-823-4057. This is a very rare, fun, collectible pinball machine with a 5 ball multiball. There were only around 1500 of these machines ever made. Don’t miss out on this rare find. Machine was just gone through and is working 100%. Playfield is in fantastic condition with very little wear visible. Playfield was just cleaned, all new rubber bumpers added, all burnt out bulbs replaced, and new pinballs added. Backglass looks fantastic for its age but is not perfect. Cabinet looks great with only a few minor scratches, scuffs. Machine comes with locks and keys ready to plug and play. I don’t know what else to say about this great pinball machine. This is a great machine to add to any gameroom and perfect for any collector, pinball player, or museum. If you have been looking for one of these machines then don’t pass this one by. You can’t go wrong with this great coin op item. I have bowlers, jukeboxes, video arcades, and other pinballs as well.

Be sure to watch for some other upcoming pinballs i have including hearts and spades, harvest moon, cyclone, getaway, count down, hot tip, mr & mrs pacman, pinball, pinball pool, flight 2000, flash, caveman, eight ball, eight ball champ, hot line, stingray, f-14 and some other great classics. Thanks for looking and good luck. I will not be held responsible for any problems that may occur once machine leaves my home. There will be no guarantees on the working condition of this machine after it leaves since these machines sometimes need adjustments after they have been moved. Mbianchi at precision-nal dot com.

Forgot to mention; i have a nos set of plastics on order to replace a broken plastic on the playfield.

This machine is in a 2nd floor apartment. This item is offered as is. The machine is in playable condition, however there are a few issues that need maintenance or repair, these are listed below.

This is the original version of the game, with the classic size backbox (as opposed to centaur ii separate small boxes for artwork and score display). This machine has the “say it again” reverb module installed. Centaur features 5-ball multiball, and wild artwork by paul faris. Only 3,700 centaurs (original version) were produced. But the game proved so popular that it went back into production in ‘83 as centaur ii (with the modified backbox).

This is one of my all-time favorite pins and i hate to get rid of it, but i’m moving and just won’t have the room. Please see hi-res photos here. The following are included in this sale.

Centaur “features and scoring” manual excerpt (xerox). Centaur ii “installation and operation instructions” book, with fold-out schematics (it’s the same guts as the original, afaik).

A new set of orbs drop targets (minus the “s” target as i had to replace a broken one). Coin door and backbox keys. 2 ea quarter coin mechs (installed). Here are the issues with this machine - all that i know of anyway. Music/scoring sound effects are not working. Speech works fine but that is that only sound i can get out of it. Probably an issue in the “squawk & talk” module. Some of the playfield indicator lights have lost their numbering, most notably the bonus scoring lights. Please see link to hi-res photos. The “o” drop target often will not drop. Replacing it might help, and a new replacement target is included.

Occasionally mulit-ball launch somehow misfires and not all balls launch. The multi-ball kicker seems to be weak. One or two lamps not functioning. Often this is a case of “socket fatigue”. The thermal paste on the rectifiers is dried up and should be replaced.

There is some worn paint in the roll-over lanes and just above, see. The playfield is due for cleaning and waxing. Occasionally the game misses scoring roll-over lanes if the ball passes over very fast. This could be a bad switch/s, but my theory is these old cpus didn’t scan the switches fast enough… But what do i know? Now, on the bright side. Aside from the above, everything seems to be working well. All the displays function, and the game plays well. Sometimes these old games don’t have the reverb module; this one has it.

I just recently replaced just about all the rubber on the play field but for one or two. Also recently replaced one of the orbs drop targets, and you get new replacements for the rest.

Again, this machine is in a 2nd floor apartment. See the photos for a picture of the stairway. The backbox should be removed for transport; i can assist with removing it. You should bring an appliance dolly and moving blankets, and at least a couple of brawny guys. Or a whole bunch of brawny guys if you are going to do it with no dolly. A pinball dolly might help but i don’t know those can cope with stairs.

Hi, you are viewing a bally centaur pinball machine from 1981. New bulbs, rubbers, pop bumper caps, drop targets.

Also will include a set of reproduction plastics. The backglass is about a 9.5. Two small spots by lift channel which could be touched up for a perfect glass. The playfield has mylar on it but look closely as someone touched up the middle area pretty decently. No warrenty but i will help if a problem arises.

For some reason i missed the last two photos. So now you can see the right side.
