Up for your consideration: Gottlieb Mermaid Pinball Machine MermaidUsed in working conditionGottlieb, 5/51, 600 produced, back box animation of fisherman catching a boot, wood rail pinball. Mermaid has five dead bumpers and two pop bumper numbered across the top of the playfield (1 to 7), and one red un-numbered pop bumper. The object is to unlight the seven yellow numbered bumpers. If you do you this once, the side rollover lanes go from 10,000 points (times two) to 100,000 points (times two). If you complete the seven numbered bumpers a second time, the two kick out holes go from 1 point plus 200,000 to 1 point plus 500,000 points. If you complete the seven numbered bumpers a third time, the two kick out holes light for Special (free game). In addition, there is a ball saver “safety gate” between the flippers. There is a switch at the top of the runway shooter lane that raises this gate. The gate stays up until a “1 point” target is scored. The “1 point” system was a secondary scoring system used on a lot of Gottlieb games. The operator could select how many “1 point” were required to win a free game (starts at 11 points, adjustable to 21 points). Replays were also awarded at points from 2.5 million to 5 million points. Down the center of the playfield are nine rollover buttons. These are worth 10,000 points each, but one is always lit. The lit rollover gives a “1 point” reward instead of 10,000 points. Also the very center white rollover button will raise the safety gate up. Also after the top most rollover button is lit, the next 10,000 point scored advance the red center pop bumper to be lit, making it worth “1 point” instead of 10,000 points. Please, serious inquires only. The item “Gottlieb Mermaid Pinball Machine” is in sale since Thursday, May 21, 2015. 1965 gottlieb cowpoke add-a-ball (aab) wedgehead pinball machine with backbox animation. Here is one of the most collectible pinball machines ever made, if not the most collectible: cowpoke. The backbox animation is the real star of this machine, along with it being an aab machine , but the game play is challenging, as well, testing your skill and aim at hitting the correct targets at the right time. When you achieve certain score levels, or win extra balls, the animated horse in the backbox bucks up his hind legs and sends the cowboy behind him spinning! The problem is that while you’re playing, you always want to watch the horse and cowboy and don’t pay attention to your ball in play! It’s almost as fun to watch someone else play the game so you can watch the animation. Either way, this machine is guaranteed to draw a crowd and will see endless action in your gameroom! But i really saved the best news for last, this machine is working great with fast action on the playfield, strong flippers, and loud bells! Get it home, plug it in, and play! It doesn’t get any easier or any better than that. And add in a new reproduction backglass a and a very nice playfield and you definitely have a winning combination. Although this machine is technically mechanically unshopped, other than having all of the bad bulbs replaced, it is working great. Literally get it home, plug it in and play. I didn’t notice any glitches, everything seemed to be working perfectly. Get it home and start to enjoy playing it rather than working on it, just the way we all like to find them. With its very nice backglass and playfield, this is definitely a machine that can go right in your home without embarrassing you! If fully working mechanics and very nice cosmetics meet your requirements, make sure you keep reading! The backglass is a new reproduction and is literally in near perfect condition. I don’t see any imperfections in the paint; only a little rubbing where it touches against the internal backbox woodwork. This glass is the real deal with silkscreened paint on plate glass made to the exact graphics and colors as the original. It has great colors that are clear, bright and show no sign of any fading. No disappointment in this glass, it is virtually perfect! The period graphics are just outstanding, too. Nothing better in my opinion. The horses and western cowgirls definitely lend themselves well to the name of the machine! The cardboard background scenery behind the animation is in excellent shape with no problems, great colors, and more period western graphics that contribute to the overall theme. The animated horse and cowboy are also fantastic with strong colors, no damage to either, and good action from both. No disappointments with either the backglass or animation features, they all look great. The playfield paint is also in excellent condition. Although it is short of perfect, it isn’t too far from it! Considering this machine is fifty years old, it is in outstanding shape! There is a little bit of chipping next to the numbered plastic inserts in the center, a little bit of past flipper drag in the clear wood surface above the flippers, and a little bit of woodgrain cracking that you can start to see in some of the solid colored areas, but take a look at the photos, this is a nice playfield! When looking at this playfield from the player’s view, you will probably say that it is perfect. It is that nice. The imperfections i mention are meant to let you know this playfield is short of perfect, but without looking at it very closely, you aren’t going to see any of them! All of the colors are outstanding and bright with no sign of any fading. The graphics, lettering, numbers, etc. Are all nearly perfect. All of the plastics are in near mint shape, too, with no cracks/breaks, strong colors, and more western graphics. Even the rubber ring set appears to be nearly new and gives good bounce. The roto-target faces have been replaced with new decals and look fantastic with no wear at all in the graphics. All six correct round bumper caps are in place. Five of the six appear to be new, the top one has some slight burn-through from the bulb underneath, but this cap has also been reproduced so you can replace it if you want. The silkscreened scenery on top of the roto-target cover is also in great shape. The bottom metal playfield apron is also in great shape with only a couple very small nicks/scratches. The original instruction/score level card is in place in nice shape. Playfield features include one round dead bumper at the top, five rollover lanes at the top, three round pop bumpers, a single round dead bumper on each side below the top rollovers, a single rollover lane along each middle side, a sunburst paddle target in front of the roto-target, another single rollover lane along each bottom side, another two below/in between the flippers, and various other rubber contact points that award scoring. A lot of targets and a nice variety. Each time you hit all four of the yellow rollovers, you win an extra ball. Hitting the numbers on the roto-target lights that numbered insert in the lower portion of the playfield. Get four numbers in a row lit and win an extra ball. Each additional adjacent lit number awards another extra ball so you can win up to four extra balls if you light all seven numbers! And then they reset so you can try to hit them all again! You can also win extra balls for achieving certain score levels. You can have up to ten balls to play during any one time during the game. But make no mistake, the real draw of this machine (beyond its great play,) is the backbox animation! Make sure you’re watching when the horse kicks up its back legs and sends the cowboy spinning! And as i mentioned, this playfield is playing very well with nice pop from the bumpers, strong flippers that can shoot the ball back to the top, nice slingshots, and loud bells. This is a fun playfield layout! Get the machine home, plug it in, and play! The cabinet paint, for the most part, appears to be original. It is starting to show its age with scratches, chips and nicks throughout, but give it a break, it is 50 years old! It has some touchup, mostly at the top of the left side of the backbox where a couple white squares have been painted and now don’t match the rest of the cabinet. With the original design and colors in place, though, you could certainly repaint the cabinet to the factory specs and the result will be a machine that looks like it just came out of the factory! In the meantime, i like a few character flaws, but that’s just me. You be the judge. The coin door and entry plate are also starting to show their age with some noticeable surface rust. If you were to repaint the cabinet, all of the hardware features on the front of the machine have been reproduced so you could replace them and literally have it look like it did from the factory! The machine is currently set to free-play by pressing the coin return button on the coin door but the backside of the door includes all wiring and hardware, except for the dime coin mech, to allow you to convert this back to coin play, if you wanted. There are locks/keys for both the coin and original metal backbox doors. The chrome legs are in pretty nice shape with some surface rust. It looks like most of it should buff out but you may be left with a little that won’t come out. The leg bolts are new. The original lockdown bar with its two chrome end pieces is in place a lot of times replaced by a later-model bar. The chrome on the end caps is in great shape with barely an imperfection, as is the stainless steel center portion of the bar. This machine is not only for the collector, but also for the player! If your long range goal is to have a machine that looks as good as the day it came out of the factory, look no further. With the new reproduction backglass, excellent playfield, and strong working condition, all it needs is a cabinet repaint and it will look like new! But in the meantime, enjoy playing this machine! You may never stop playing it long enough to allow yourself to have the cabinet repainted because it is that fun to play! Enjoying its play or just looking at it all lit up, this machine has everything going for it. Don’t miss the backglass animation when the horse kicks the cowboy and sends him spinning! And don’t forget about the aab feature, either. Everything adds up to a winning combination. If you’ve been waiting for a cowpoke to come along, and were hoping that it would be a nice one, this is your answer! This is a great opportunity to add a classic machine to your collection or gameroom, and have fun playing it, too, unlike a lot of other “collectible” machines. This cowpoke is definitely nice enough for the collectors, but plays well enough for the player. It will immediately fit into any gameroom! The item “1965 Gottlieb Cowpoke AAB Pinball Machine FULLY WORKING! Horse Kicks Cowboy” is in sale since Sunday, May 17, 2015. The machine works great, it has nice graphics and a nice playfield with minor wear with a nice backglass.
