By Gottlieb: 1957 Wood-rail Pinball, Boxing Art by Roy Parker. This is a beautiful survivor pinball from 1957. It is a very colorful , attractive and a fun game. I think this pinball machine is in amazing condition. I read that there were only 2300 of these games originally made and most were destroyed years ago. It was a popular and often played game in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Because of this of the few that have survived most have damaged and worn playfields. However, this playfield is very good original condition. The pinball machine appears complete (except for the back door of the head) and comes with a new rubber ring kit installed as well as schematic drawing and an original Gottlieb advertising flyer. The back of the head has been covered by a cardboard that slips in and out as a door would. When I first got the game it would play if you tripped a certain coil. Flippers bumpers and targets worked and it scored. Now after several years it does not work - it only lights up. Please study the pictures carefully to appreciate the condition of this game. Some paint is missing from the backglass but The Shay Arcade Group Inc. Obviously a 58 year old game will need mechanical or/and electrical repair and restoration. My research shows that playfield and back glass artwork was done by Roy Parker one of the most famous and sought after of all pinball design artists. The backglass contains the classic logo Amusement Pinballs as American as Baseball and Hot Dogs! This vintage game will add interest, color and nostalgia to any game room, man cave, commercial display or museum setting.
